FAQs

What is different about Mental Health Counseling at Christian Counseling Ministries of WNY, Inc. (CCM)?

We are a NYS approved mental health agency that is a non-profit, faith-based charitable Christian ministry. Our counseling is grounded in research proven models and Biblical principles and doctrine. We integrate clients’ faith and spirituality according to their desire and comfort level. All of our counselors are trained professionals with graduate level degrees in various counseling fields.

Our goal is to provide affordable counseling to any client in need; therefore, fees are assessed on an income-based sliding scale.

Do I have to be Christian to come to CCM?

No. Though our counselors are all active in local Christian churches and profess a Christian worldview, we welcome clients of all faiths and backgrounds.

How long are appointments?

Standard sessions run from 45 minutes to 60 minutes generally. You will work with your counselor as needs arise which could impact your session length time.

How often do I come and how long does counseling take to resolve problems?

Most commonly, clients come to counseling once a week in the beginning to gain the most benefit. As problems or symptoms start to resolve, the time between sessions increases.

Time in treatment varies depending on type and severity of the problem and the client’s goals for treatment. Most clients attend 8-12 sessions over 3-6 months.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes! It is up to you who attends the session; however, it is best to discuss this with your counselor to get the most out of your appointments and achieve the best outcome.

What types of counseling do you provide?

As a staff, we are able to provide individual, marital/couple, premarital, family, and group counseling.

We see clients of all ages, including children, teens, adults, and the elderly.

Can I use insurance?

We are excited to share that in 2024 we started to accept Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, United Behavioral Healthcare/Optum, Univera, and Independent Health. There may be some limitations or restrictions so call to see if you can use your plan. For other insurance companies we can provide you with a copy of your receipts to submit to your carrier for any available out-of-network plan benefits. This requires us to provide a diagnosis and treatment code. This allows for a portion of fees paid for services to be directly reimbursed to you dependent on your insurance company and plan.

When are appointments available?

Counselors are available Monday-Friday 8 am-9 pm, and limited Saturdays.
