About Me

Sandy Ticen

It has been said that art is the language of the soul. It has been used for healing for many centuries. In this light, I have
been providing Art Therapy as well as traditional psychotherapy and counseling with all ages for over 35 years.
As a licensed Art Therapist, and eating disorder specialist, I have lectured extensively and presented at professional
conferences around the country on the benefits of using art to help those suffering from trauma, abuse, depression,,
anxiety, and addictions. In 1984 I received my Masters Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from State University
College at Buffalo and have been Board Certified as an addictions specialist from the American Association of
HealthCare Providers in the Addictions. I was awarded Counselor of the Year from Canisius College where I taught as
an Adjunct Professor in the graduate school.
Apart from this profession, I worked as an art director and designer for 15 years creating for not-for-profit organizations
such as Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, and several colleges. In my free time, I enjoy loving
on family, church, painting, gardening, reading historical fiction, and antiquing. It has been an honor and privilege serving
the precious people God has put in my path.
The Word reminds me that “A merry heart does good like a medicine” and nothing can be done apart from Him.
