FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is different about CCM of WNY?

We are the only state-licensed mental health agency that identifies as a non-profit Christian ministry.  All of our counselors are trained professionals with graduate level degrees in various counseling fields.  Our counseling is grounded in Biblical principles and doctrine.  We integrate clients’ faith and spirituality according to their desire and comfort level.  Our goal is to provide affordable counseling to any client in need, therefore fees are assessed on a sliding scale.

Do I have to be Christian to come to CCM?

No.  We welcome clients of all faiths and backgrounds.  Our counselors are all active in local Christian churches and profess a Christian worldview.

How long are appointments?

The initial appointment is approximately 2 hours long, including testing.  After that, sessions run approximately 45-55 minutes long.

How often do I come and how long does counseling take to resolve problems?

Most commonly, clients come to counseling once a week in the beginning to gain the most benefit.  As problems or symptoms start to resolve, the time between sessions increases.  The length of time in treatment varies depending on the type and severity of the presenting problem and the client’s goals for treatment.  Most clients generally attend between 8-12 sessions, over 3-6 months.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes!  It is up to you who attends the session, however it is best to discuss this with your counselor to get the most out of your appointment time and achieve the best treatment outcome.

What types of counseling do you provide?

As a staff, we are able to provide individual, marital/couple, premarital, family, and group counseling.  We see clients of all ages, including young children, adolescents, adults, and the geriatric population.

Can I use insurance?

We do not accept insurance as payment.  We will gladly provide you with a copy of your payments to submit to your carrier for out of network benefits.  This requires us to provide a diagnosis and treatment code.

When are appointments available?

Counselors are available Monday through Friday between 8am-9pm, and limited Saturdays.
