Edward Jackson, Jr., MDiv, MS, LMFT
DESCRIBE WHAT YOU DO FOR WORK.
I have the privilege of being bivocational. I am both a Therapist and a Pastor in the city of Buffalo. As a therapist my area of focus is Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). As an MFT I look at things from a systems perspective, which means we look at situations from every angle and possible perspective (biological, psychological, spiritual, social, etc.). I am also the proud pastor of the Friendship Baptist Church in Buffalo, NY. These two vocations allow me to provide holistic care to those I have the privilege to work with in the therapy room.
WHAT QUALIFIES YOU TO DO THAT?
I have my BA in Psychology from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, my MDiv from Northern Baptist Seminary in Lombard, IL, and a MS from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Marriage and Family Therapy.
WHY IS THERAPY IMPORTANT TO YOU?
Therapy is important to me because I believe that it is an avenue that God can use to help a person become who they were truly destined to be. There are very few places in the world where people can come together in a safe, non-judgmental environment, and work together to find healing and wholeness. That is why this work is so important to me. It opens the door to healing, and it encourages the person that they have what it takes to walk through that door.
HOW DO YOU LIKE TO SPEND YOUR FREE TIME?
In my free time I enjoy time with the people who mean the world to me, and watching any type of documentary. PBS is truly a gift from God!!!
SHARE A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF!
One of my favorite things to do is sing, and I do it all the time! Even when it drives other people crazy!
